In Nigel Kneale's Quatermass series launched with the six-part television serial "The Quatermass Experiment" which spawned numerous sequels and movie remakes.

Back in author Nigel Kneale revised his script for the BBC series The Quatermass Experiment. He simplified the technical terms & stage directions, which resulted in this very readable screenplay.

Editorial Reviews. Val Guest's The Quatermass Xperiment (U.S. title: The Creeping Unknown) was among the very earliest successful motion picture adaptations of a television on a six-part BBC drama authored by Nigel Kneale, it arrived on screen in England in the same year that Delbert Mann's Marty (based on Paddy Chayefsky's television drama) was Brand: Kl Studio Classics.

The Quatermass Xperiment was aired as serials before it was adapted into a full blown production. The result is a tense, atmosphere Sci Fi horror picture that boasts some impressive performances 92%. The Quatermass Experiment and its Legacy: The Birth of BBC Science Fiction and Horror.

(2nd Edition. Expanded). One of the most influential series in early television has actually made its way into science fiction history as a book. You can see my copy below: The Quatermass Experiment by Nigel Kneale, a plain paperback with the classic Penguin orange, cream, and black cover.

Ridley Scott’s Alien, John Carpenter’s The Thing, the very existence of Doctor Who, not to mention s. Drawing an average audience ofThe Quatermass Experiment became BBC Four's fourth-highest-rated programme of all time, behind The Curse of Steptoe, The Road to Coronation Street and The Alan Clark Diaries.

Critic Nancy Banks-Smith in The Guardian complimented the production, and noted that "there were minor bumps in this production Directed by: Sam Miller.

If you want to know how it ends you will have to buy the BBC dvd which includes the original script, or see Hammer's movie version or the remake. The KL Studio Classics Blu-ray of The Quatermass Xperiment is a very welcome addition to British Sci-Fi on HD, just one week after the BFI's release of another classic by the same director, The Day the Earth Caught Fire.

The movie has had a rocky history on home video as seen, but all legitimate discs have offered the original British version. This can be traced back to George. This production of original Quatermass Experiment is gripping. It's also been shot theatrically, live and all in one go. So much so, that the actors (and 2 camera) had to relocate fast between inside and outside sets to catch their cues/5(59).

Nigel Kneale 's book and screenplay, which Hammer Films made into Quatermass and the Pit, raises many provocative questions regarding the nature of human evolution and the conception of the devil 7/   InHammer Films remade the story as a feature film ("The Quatermass Xperiment"), featuring a brilliant performance by Richard Wordsowrth as the doomed astronaut, but otherwise completely.

The MGM Limited Edition DVD-R of The Quatermass Xperiment is derived from a beautiful HD master made in (Savant wrote about the transfer) and screened frequently on the MGM HD cable d from a fine grain positive held by The British Film Institute, the video quality is excellent. Outside of expensive Criterion-style restorations few English movies of this.

Directed by Sam Miller. With Jason Flemyng, Adrian Dunbar, Mark Gatiss, David Tennant. Professor Bernard Quatermass' manned rocket ship returns to Earth but two of the astronauts are missing and the survivor seems ill and unable to communicate/10().

Quatermass was a British rocketry expert, starring in stories set from the '50s into the dystopic near future of the '70s, when this last work was made. He's a hero figure with some ambiguity, his boldness and dedication sometimes leading him into obsession and a willingness to disregard others' well-being for the Well, this is a thing/5.
